The PupHut Atelier

One evening, the house will be quiet, and your dog will be asleep under the arch. The Atelier exists for that evening.

The PupHut Atelier is a Canadian studio devoted to the indoor dog residence: a home of their own, built like fine furniture, made by hand.

The Atelier

Handcrafted at The PupHut Atelier, every residence is made by hand from carefully chosen materials such as furniture-grade solid maple, solid polished brass, and recycled acrylic, vegan throughout. The work is slow by design. One residence is built at a time, and commissions open in small groups, so that each Resident can be received, named, and housed with care.

The Resident

At the Atelier, every dog we build for is a Resident: one dog, named, whose way of living quietly shapes their PupHut residence. When commissions open, each residence is reserved for one Resident only, and that name is carried through the work from the first day.

The Standard

Before the Atelier, its founder served as National Executive Director of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada, the national body that sets the standard for architectural woodwork. That discipline stayed. Every residence is built by hand to meet or exceed the North American Architectural Woodwork Standards: solid maple, solid polished brass, vegan materials throughout, finishes chosen with your dog's wellbeing in mind.

What the Atelier Will Not Do

Some choices were made before the first commission, and they hold. We do not mass-produce: every residence is built one at a time, by hand. We do not build anonymously: every residence is commissioned for a named Resident. We do not discount the work: no sales, no codes, no seasons.

The Atelier List

The Atelier List is the circle we write to first when new Residents may be commissioned. From the List, you will hear when commissions open and how to begin a residence for your own Resident. From time to time, we may share notes from the Atelier: materials on the bench, early views of the work, and the quiet details that appear nowhere else.
