The Residence
Furniture for your home, made first for the dog who lives in it. It is made for indoors, and for suitable dogs and households it also works as a crate.
The arch
The roof is one continuous curve of bent laminated maple, its radius fixed at exactly half the residence's width on every size. Height is added only where a standing dog needs it, at the centre, so the residence offers real headroom without the bulk of a taller box. And because the roof curves across the width from front to back, a dog standing anywhere along the centreline gets the same full height, at the door or at the back wall.
One composed shape
The front frame, the back wall and the roof all begin curving at the same height, on one shared line called the springline, and the arched side windows repeat the shape below it. That is why a PupHut residence reads as one composed shape and never a box.
It is a fact of construction rather than a styling trick. The curve also means the roof has no flat plane anywhere.
There is nothing to set a cup or a book on, so the residence stays a residence.
A quiet space of their own
Solid maple walls hold the sides and back, and the windows are sized to the dog each size is built for rather than enlarged to decorate a wall. The Bed comes with every residence, made to fit inside it.
Air and light
One narrow louvre line runs at a single height along both side walls and the back wall, and across the doors on a Private Residence.
On the back wall, and in the door windows on a Private Residence, the louvres frame a halo.

Warm air rises and finds the high openings. Cooler air is drawn in low to take its place. It is the louvres that do the work, not the shape of the roof.
The doors
An Open Residence has no doors at all. On a Private Residence, the two doors close into one composition, the latch halves closing into one circle.
A brass latch keeps the doors closed until you open them. The Resident’s Key fits the brass-lined keyhole in the latch, though nothing on the residence locks with a key.
The Resident’s Key is a meaningful keepsake and a record of the day your commission began. When open, each door swings fully back to rest alongside the residence, so an open door is never in the way.

How do I choose a size?
Start with How to measure your dog, then Sizes. Your dog’s length, standing height and the curl matter more than a breed label. If you are unsure, ask the Concierge.
Will it fit into my room?
Check the whole route from the front door to its place, including doorways, stairs, landings and tight corners. It arrives assembled, so the Concierge can help you check the way in before you commission. Door sizes to plan with are on Specifications.
When can I commission?
The Atelier List hears first when the first commissions open. It is free to join, and joining does not reserve a residence.
